Your Cars
The Resto Shop is honored and proud to be part of your BMW 2002 restoration journey. Here are some projects.
Inka Love
This Inka beauty came with some assembly required. An older gentleman had toiled over the restoration for years, but failing health led him to sideline his dream. He came to Bart to ask him to finish building the car so that he could sell it, as his health made it difficult to enjoy driving. Once the car was finished, he fell in love with it again, and decided not to sell!
Full Metal Agave
New for 2019, Bart is is in full swing on a total restoration of this original owner 1971 Agave 2002. This daily driver car was driven in, carefully disassembled, all parts catalogued and stored. Engine, drivetrain and all subframe and suspension parts were meticulously cleaned, inspected, painted where needed. Body was then hand sanded done to bare metal, removing multiple paint jobs and exposing past accidents. Bart will now do all metalwork to restore the body to it’s crisp clean original factory lines. After that, three coats of factory spec Glasurit Agave, and this beauty with be just as carefully reassembled, ready to be driven home in better than new condition.
Orange Crush
Crusty has a bit of a cult following in the SF Bay Area. A mostly original Roundie 2002, Crusty is beloved for it's original faded orange and rust spotted patina. Recently Crusty's rear end met with the physics of an immovable object. The brief foray left Crusty's rear right end seemingly crushed beyond repair. But Crusty's owner and Bart have stubbornly undertaken the challenge to restore Crusty to it's original patina, to preserve the history of the car in all of it's faded glory. Bart has already hammered out the rear end to surprising effect, a thing of beauty to watch, and true to his mantra "Blue collar for life." See it all unfold on Instagram here.
Amazing Amazon
Bart loves his old 70's vinyl wood panel International Harvester Travel All, which is how he trailered this beautiful Amazon Green Square Tail to the annual SF Chapter Meet and Swap. This was a great opportunity for the BMW community to see the absolutely obsessive detail and precious than The Resto Shop puts into each car. Inside and out, metalwork, body and paint show a car being reborn to better than factory condition. This gorgeous 2002 will soon be reunited with a very proud owner.
Red Hot Blue
This metallic Fjord Blue Square Tail is the perfect example of how fresh and crisp the BMW 2002 becomes with a full restoration. With original factory paint color and OEM precision, this car looks like it just rolled off the boat from Munich.
